The present culture location was built at 1911. During the 1920ies the Curiohaus was a popular meeting place for artists and intellectuals. After the end of war the English occupying power placed the building under confiscation. From 1950 to 1977 the event rooms were used as a canteen by the university. After that period the building was extensively restored so the event rooms shine in a new splendor these days.
On the second floor there is the gorgeous ball room with a balcony. This event room can be darkened quickly also during daytime – so the big chandelier is shown to its best advantage. It is possible to arrange a gala seating for up to 300 persons or the seating at tables for 520 guests.
The Weißer Saal is a bit smaller but not less beautiful. Also here is a balcony surrounding the room. 140 persons can be seated at festive tables.
On every four floors there are foyers which are often used for the welcoming of the guests, for the setup of the buffet or as exhibition area.
Also the KOCHLABOR is available as an event area. Cooking events are realized on a regular basis here.
Visit our rooms and convince yourself of the captivating atmosphere of the Curiohaus in Hamburg. Only a few locations offer such a fantastic flair.
